THE focus on offshore processing has overshadowed a quieter humanitarian crisis in Australia's immigration detention centres. More than 50 refugees have been languishing in detention for between two and three years, after being refused visas on security grounds. All were recognised by Australia as refugees, most after fleeing from the Sri Lankan government - which indiscriminately butchered Tamil civilians during the civil war. [ full story
