These days we Tamils both within the island of Sri Lanka as well as outside are in deep distress, agony and pain over the recent events in our homeland. In spite of these we are called to rise again with greater unity and strength to face the new challenges and tasks.

1. Tamils within the island of Sri Lanka

Our brethren within the island are either

    (a) behind barbed wires separated from their dearest children/parents and subject to brutal force of the govt. forces and lack of food and medicines
    (b) or in camps detained as surrendered from the LTTE and facing slow torture or execution
    (c) or in the North struggling to survive under Sri Lankan army-rule and terror d) or in the South or Hill country with a shivering fear of a repeat of 1983

In short, the Tamils surviving within the island of Sri Lanka all urgently need our help and defence in informing the world of their plight and dangers.

2. Tamil Diaspora

We Tamils of the Diaspora have witnessed how the int. community has aided and abetted the SL govt in its genocide of Tamils and left them all helpless to be massacred by state-terrorists. Hence we have a bigger responsibility than ever before of challenging the international community for its past actions as well as helping the int. community to bring charges of war crimes against the Sri Lankan Government.

3. Unfortunate Confusion

In the midst of the above situations at home and abroad, there is unfortunately a confusion created by contradictory news regarding the last days of our Thalaivar. "Pannaiaalai vilunthavanai maadhu eri mythichchathu pol"

Time will tell us who the culprits of this confusion are. For the time being, let us be clear about two things:-

    1. The root-cause of the confusion lies in two or more sources claiming to speak the truth.Media within and without Sri Lanka have only reported what has been told to them from different sources. It is no use accusing or branding the media as the root-cause of the confusion.

    2. Even a still surviving Thalaivar will not want us to wait till he appears or speaks again but for us to continue with the convictions we got from his leadership. We cannot afford to be delayed or weakened in our unity needed to continue the struggle with greater vigour. The enemy is taking his war even to the Diaspora.

It is at this dangerous hour when we are called to be united and brave both to help our brothers and sisters within the island as well as to continue the struggle with greater dedication that an unfortunate confusion seems to weaken, if not divide, our resolve to act as one family.

Hence I, as one who has walked closely with you all in our long walk to Freedom,am compelled to make an appeal with all my strength, to you all - young and old. We have so much to do to help those who are still struggling to survive within the island,as well as continuing the struggle in the international arena as entrusted to us. Let us in no way allow the present confusion regarding the last days of Thalaivar in Wanni, hinder or weaken our unity and dedication needed at this hour to continue the struggle with grater vigour.

We need immediately set up a council of World Tamil Diasporas in a country who which indirectly becomes a defacto Tamil Eelam state. Shud get this done before making official statement on behalf of Eelam. The military struggle have succeeded to bring Tamils together as never before. Secondly, Tamil Eelam got the attention of the world. Thirdly, in matter of time the world will admit that ethnic cleansing Tamil race. We shud move forward.

Don't give importance to emotions. Be cool to face the enemy's cunning diplomatic efforts to destabilise the non-violent struggles and freeze those efforts to nil by polite ways.

Stay with US, UK and EU eventhough they are impotent against Singalese alliance. Some of us may have reluctant to work with Capitalist countries. But remember that the Communist countries have not shown a slightest sympathy towards the appressed. When we were migrating and seeking asylum we did never migrate to Communist countries and they would not take you as refugees.

In Communist countries their own people are living like slaves to their ruling iron hands.

Liberation of Eelam has opened itself into a New chapter where this Young , intelligent diaspora has to take the Major role to play with all kind of shrewd diplomatic technics. When the armed struggle had its agressiveness in the homeland the diplomatic compaign and non violent movement must have been carried parallely.

Lets forget the Past. The dispora in EU and in US are to be united interms of vision and objectives. There must be a single minded goal.

Prabha is proud of having an Intelligent juvenille , young minds with global perception who can accomplish the recognition of Eelam.

The Primary and immediate objective is to press the US and UK/EU to save the people in the camps.

ariyanayagam from Trinidad and Tobago on May 30, 2009 9:29:31 GMT

Rev.Dr.Samuel's analysis of the situation within Sl and the call for unity and concerted action on a continual basis by the diaspora are timely and most appropriate and as the Rev says that is what our Thalivar will want of us. Let us Unite and firstly seek from our respective govts. to remove the tile "terrorist" attached to our organization and struggle" Let us work together irrespective of our personal convictions for the common good. The greatness of a people is not measured by what they do when the weather is fair but when the storm is blowing and every thing may appear blown away.

Bass from Australia on May 29, 2009 21:18:13 GMT

I fully agree Rev Dr S J Samuel. We cannot be complacent and lose focus on what we the diaspora have to do. The dream is our Homeland, an independent nation.

Tamils needs to unite as one and we should not allow to hinder or weaken our resolve.

Richy2 from United Kingdom on May 28, 2009 21:53:34 GMT

What Rev,Dr.S.J. Samuel says is 100% abosolutely correct. We, the exodus of Tamil-diaspora have got to sail through the impediment created by our belligerent-enemy for the past 60- years. Let us not to get confused over any of the news put out by news- media.
