TECH offers loan scheme for Solar home systems

The Economic Consultancy House (TECH) International, a Sri Lanka Government registered NGO, in partnership with TECH Canada inaugurated a new loan scheme to provide Solar Home Systems (SHS) to the needy residents of NorthEast.

The inaugural event presided by M.Sunderamoorthy, Director of TECH International, was held at the TECH Head Office at Iranaimadu junction Monday. Kilinochchi district Education Commissioner, Mr Kurukularajah, also presented the SHS units.

TECH Canada branch is sponsoring the loan scheme where funds have been allocated for additional 115 units. The successful loan applicants are to repay the loan as Rs 2000 a month for eleven months, according to TECH officials.

As part of the inaugural phase of a new loan scheme, The Economic Consultancy House (TECH), a Sri Lanka Government registered NGO exclusively operating in the NorthEast, provided ten Chinese manufactured Solar Home Systems (SHS) to Kilinochchi residents last week, sources said.

The low cost compact SHS has an integrated battery and charge controller, and comes with pre-configured wiring with three outlets. The unit The 12V, 20AmpHr unit is supplied with three 6-8W compact fluorescent bulbs suitable for a small home. Once the 25W photo-voltaic panel is installed the rest of the system can be easily installed by users, TECH officials said.

The inaugural event presided by M.Sunderamoorthy, Director, was held at the TECH Head Office at Iranaimadu junction Monday. S. Nesanathan, accountant at TECH, detailed the load scheme to prospective users, and Kilinochchi district Education Commissioner, Mr Kurukularajah, presented the SHS units.
